- Phuket is not only a great tropical island its also the right place for a great beach vacation.

The real good beach at Phuket  is always on the west coast of the island, scenic places you probably dreamed about. The blend of natural and man-made beauty got a little less beautiful since a construction boom started about 2005 and a tsunami of Thais from the north of Thailand flooded Phuket Island.

That even affected the beaches at Phuket because people with obviously the right “connection” were even able to put huge restaurant structures right into the sand of the beach, makes the whole beach look less appealing.

Phuket has real attractive ocean beaches with. almost white and yellow sand beaches they are mostly lined with pine and palm trees still showing the idyllic scenes of a tropical island in the Andaman Sea. Actually most beaches don't have palm trees but pine trees.

If you want to use a beach in Phuket to get your right sun tan, do it carefully, the sun is very strong also because the reflection from the water and the light sand, within half hour you have a sunburn. Means better spend a few Baht to the beach lady and lay down under a umbrella.

If you are ready for a beach massage just look around, at almost every beach in Phuket you will find the beach massage ladies. Usually fat women from the north of Thailand who came to Phuket Island to earn some money, they do quite a good job sometimes the rough way.

If you don’t want the massage on the beach there are massage parlor. Thai ladies do the famous special Thai massage for the guys and more. You found the right massage parlor when you see a couple of pretty girls sitting in front of the parlor, do some bargaining don't pay just what they ask for.

The beaches of Phuket are full with tourists from all over the world. Some of the better known beaches are Patong Beach, Karon Beach, Kata Beach, Kamala Beach and in the north west of the island is Mai Khao Beach where the JW Marriott and other Phuket luxury beach resorts are, just check the menu at left or the interactive map for more. Some beaches are crowded with tourists, particular Patong Beach and Nai Harn Beach, Nai Harn is in the south of Phuket and is just in front of a Meridien Hotel. others are secluded. If you want to do a beach hopping just rent a car or a motor bike and go, be very careful with the motor bike, since nobody takes traffic rules serious. From time to time beach parties erupt  but not of a scale like at Ko Phangan.. After a day in the water, relax at the beach hotel bar or hop along to one of the rocking nightclubs and nightlife bars at Patong

Nai Harn Beach is idyllic tropical just in front of the Meridien Phuket Yachtclub hotel.

There is Patong beach Phuket one of the most famous beaches in Thailand with plenty of Phuket hotels close to the beach and further inside of Phuket Thailand. Patong is in Katu district.

Many up market Phuket hotels and resort have fabulous Phuket spa, some spa are almost at the beach. In the evening its a wonderful view into the beach horizon. Hotels and resort have relatively moderate prices, only the top notch Phuket beach hotels and beach resort are asking for premium prices, like the Meridien Beach Resort at Karon Nui beach, Chedi Hotel north of Surin Beach and similar.

At Kata beach Phuket most of the hotels have direct access to the sandy beach without a road in between. 

But one situation in Phuket is much better than in Samui e.g. Phuket beaches are not as overcrowded as their Koh Samui counterparts.

The Phuket Andaman Sea is quite calm throughout the years, only during the monsoon time are good waves to surf at Kata Beach. Phuket beaches are typical Thai, there is always someone who wants to sell you something or offering you a tough beach massage, the massage women run around in droves.

Up market beach resorts sometimes offer beach cottage, would be your perfect holiday beach with a beach bar right on the fringe.

Not every  beach at Phuket has palms as you can see in the Kamala beach picture left , many beaches are lined with pine trees or rather casuarinas, but a few could be a real beach paradise, actually the real paradise beaches around Phuket are on the Islands off Phuket, around the Limestone cliffs of the Phang Nga Bay and south of Phuket Island. Beach rooms are offered on several Beaches, so are beach bungalows.

Finally Kite Surfing came to Phuket. Its done mainly at Nai Yang beach since there is the right wind and the waves are not as high as at Kata Noi Beach the right place for normal surfing on Phuket Island.

And as you can see at the right picture, every paradise has his snakes, the bodies washed onto a beach after the Tsunami. Phuket Island is one of the most beautiful provinces in Thailand. Phuket is famous for beach, nightlife a unique culture of everything goes when it brings money and some positive geographical features bringing lots of sunshine to the beaches and relatively little rain. Phuket's Kata Beach has also the best surf environment in Thailand.

Phuket Beaches are, beside of nightlife, the prime attractions on the island. They are ideal for every vacation where sun, water and sand, sometimes granite is on the agenda. Plus great beach hotel or beach resorts, Phuket stands for this. You could do family vacation, honeymoon vacation, nightlife vacation. Maybe a Phuket stud weekend, chasing Thai Girls and drink the night through until the beer

drips out from your ears.

You can do a real good Thailand vacation on beautiful beaches on Phuket Island, one of them is Bangtao Beach and the area around like Krabi and Phang Nga.

There is also something waiting for adventure hungry in the Thai National Parks around, in particular Khao Sok and Similan Marine National Park both are north of Phuket., both places are very popular among tourists and vacationers. Almost all the great beaches of Phuket are gifted with nature beauty, lush tropical greenery, dotted with palm trees but mostly casuarinas. The beaches

are mostly safe for swimming throughout the year, only sometimes during monsoon times the red flag is out, means don’t go into the water.

Fun activities and water sports are offered at almost every beach in Phuket. Swimming, Speed boat rides, beach parachute, water scooters, scuba diving its all just a few meters away but be careful with the prices, they try to squeeze you like a lemon, you must bargaining real hard and don’t feel shy to say no and walk away if it becomes to silly. If you rent water scooter make sure to inspect the jet ski carefully for any damages etc. it happens all the time that when the tourist come back from the ride the owner of the water scooter will tell you you did some damage and want money for it, its pure black mail, but they do this every day. This method is also very popular in Phuket with rented motor bikes. If you rent any car or bike only rent it from a respectable company such as Pur Car Rental, they also rent motor bikes and scooters and check before leaving.

At several Phuket hotels and beach resorts Yoga, Ayurvedic and spa treatment is offered. There are also plenty of other spas outside the hotels offering the same plus herbal sauna, Bikram or hot Yoga, massage and plenty of other treatment.
